Olde English Bulldogges
Courageous, loyal, loving, intelligent, devoted, and trustworthy are all words used to accurately describe the Olde English Bulldogge. Olde English Bulldogges are all of these things and much, much more. The breed is very healthy and active. The males are free breeders and the females are free whelpers. This is certainly in stark contrast to the modern AKC English Bulldog, which in many cases must be artificially inseminated to conceive and then must deliver by Cesarean Section.
For those unfamiliar with the breed, the Olde English Bulldogge is NOT an oversized English Bulldog. If you are considering purchasing a puppy from a breeder whose dogs look like tall English Bulldogs, BEWARE! Many breeders continue to breed English Bulldog back into their lines. They do this for the look and not the integrity of the breed or what the breed should be. They know that bully looks sells puppies. If you purchase an English Bulldog look alike, you will encounter many of the same health problems associated with the English Bulldog. There really is a difference between the Original Olde English Bulldogge, and the larger body of imitators out there. Hip X-rays
Hip Dysplasia (CHD), is a hereditary disease in dogs that is extremely painful, and can eventually lead to debilitating arthritis and lameness, often resulting in the dog needing to be euthanized. There are both genetic and environmental factors that cause Hip Dysplasia. It is estimated however that the genetic factor is anywhere from 25%-85%.
Bulldogs are notorious for bad hips. It is said that most bulldogs are at least mildly dysplastic. This is all the more reason to x-ray your breeding stock. Bad hips are not acceptable to us! We x-ray all of our dogs prior to breeding to ensure that only the best stock is used in our breeding program. The x-rays are taken while the dog is mildly sedated and in the OFA recommended position. The animal is sedated because that is the only way to get a completely lax hip joint for an accurate x-ray. Some breeders don’t sedate their dogs, claiming that they can properly restrain them while the x-ray is taken. This is simply not true! A strong dog, such as a bulldog, can easily hold his/her hips in place, distorting the true picture of their hip health. Also, just in the process of restraining the animal, its hips can be held in place, again distorting the real picture.
The sad truth is that most bulldog breeders don’t x-ray at all. The practice of not x-raying and not practicing good selective breeding habits will expose a money motivated breeder right away. Our recommendation is that you not purchase a puppy from a breeder that either doesn’t x-ray his breeding stock, or won’t show you the x-rays. We will never breed animals with poor hips, and we’ll do our part to improve the hip health of the Olde English Bulldogge. This is our responsibility to the breed and to those who purchase a puppy from us.
Breeding for Color
We often get requests for puppies in a particular color. If we don’t have a puppy in the color that is requested, we are often asked if we will be breeding for that particular color anytime soon. As responsible breeders, we are color blind. We do not intentionally breed for specific colors. It is our responsibility to breed selectively and put the two best dogs together regardless of color. This will inevitably produce a variety of colors depending on the animals chosen for a particular breeding. Remember, our main concern is to produce healthy animals that are sound in both structure and temperament. If we don’t have a puppy in your desired color, we will be happy to help you find one from another reputable breeder.

The pedigrees of all of our breeding stock are traceable back to the original foundation stock of the breed. Don't be fooled by the imitators who will tell you that the Olde English Bulldogge is a type of dog rather than a specific breed.
